Stags Honor “Avery’s Little Army” in their Match Against Princeton

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Fairfield University Women's Soccer team will close out their non-conference slate and their season-long five-match homestand when they welcome the Princeton Tigers to Lessing Field on Wednesday night at 7pm. Before the game, the Stags will also honor Avery's Little Army, an organization that honors the memory of Avery Lafferty who passed away from a pediatric brain tumor. The charity was founded to raise money and awareness for pediatric cancer. Fairfield has teamed up with the non-profit organization and has donated $5 for every goal scored this season.

The Stags have netted 24 goals over their first seven matches, and their 3.43 goals per game average leads the MAAC and places sixth in the nation. In fact, the Stags lead the conference in most offensive statistics including: goals (24), assists (20), points (68), shots per game (20.3), and shots on goal per game (9.9).

Fairfield has accomplished these number with a balanced effort courtesy of 12 different goal scorers. Fairfield had six different student-athletes touch net in their 7-1 win over Iona, their third-straight match scoring five or more goals.

Princeton, under former Fairfield Associate Head Coach Sean Driscoll, will enter the match with a 4-2 record. The Tigers have allowed just four goals over their first six matches while holding a 0.67 goals against average.

The Stags will next continue MAAC play and hit the road against Niagara on Saturday at noon.
