LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. – Anthony Naples and
Patrick McCarthy both earned All-MAAC honors to pace Fairfield University Men's Golf at the 2024 MAAC Championship. The Stags turned in their best-ever score at a 54-hole MAAC Championship en route to second place on the team leaderboard.
Naples rode back-to-back 71s to place in a tie for fifth at -2. In addition to All-MAAC honors, Naples was also one stroke shy of Siena's Mike McConie for Rookie of the Year laurels. McCarthy fired a two-under 70 to end his Fairfield career in a tie for eighth-place at -1 for the weekend.
Fairfield's collective 863 is the program's best-ever team score at a 54-hole MAAC Championship, topping last season's second-place mark of 869. The Stags' Saturday score of 284 matched Day 1 of the 2021 Championship as the best single round for Fairfield at a MAAC Championship.
Colin Summers was just outside the top 10 for the Stags, finishing up the weekend at even par.
Shane DeVincenzo slotted 15th on the 45-man leaderboard and
Peter Crowe was 37th in his MAAC Championship debut.
As a team, Fairfield was one shot under par for the weekend. The Stags were three strokes ahead of third-place Rider and three shots back of MAAC Champion Siena. Rider's Ben Ortwein won the 2024 McLeod Trophy at -4 over 54 holes.
