EDISON, N.J. – For the third consecutive week,
Kelly Haggerty has been named the MAAC Rookie of the Week. Haggerty totaled six points in a pair of home wins for #23 Fairfield University Women's Lacrosse.
On Wednesday, Haggerty scored one goal with two ground balls as Fairfield ran away with a 17-5 victory over Quinnipiac. The rookie attacker followed up with two goals and a career-best three assists on Saturday to push Fairfield past visiting Manhattan, 16-8.
For the season, Haggerty has tallied 13 goals and four assists. She has netted 12 goals – scoring multiple markers on four occasions – in the six games since joining the first unit on the Fairfield offense.
Haggerty and the nationally-ranked Stags enter the final week of the MAAC regular season on a 13-game winning streak. At 13-1 overall and 7-0 in the MAAC, Fairfield needs one win in its next two to lock up at least a share of the conference's Regular Season Championship. First on the weekly docket is a Wednesday, April 17 visit to Rider. Opening draw from Lawrenceville, N.J. is set for 4 p.m.
