EASTON, Pa.-Junior Colin Summers fired an impressive two-under par 70 on Sunday to lead the Fairfield University men's golf team on day one of the Abarta Coca-Cola Collegiate Invitational hosted by Lafayette College in Easton, Pennsylvania at the Northampton Country Club.
Summers' fine first round score places him in a three-way tie for second place in the 81 golfer field; three shots behind Lehigh's Will Caronchi, who carded a 67 on Sunday.
As a team, the Stags sit in seventh place out of 13 teams at the event after shooting a combined 299 through the first 18 holes. Lehigh sits atop the team standings with an even par 288 after round one.
Freshmen Anthony Naples and Peter Crowe each shot a 76 (+ 4) on Sunday to round out Fairfield's top three finishers in round one, as they are part of a tie for 28th place.
The trio of graduate students Shane DeVincenzo with a 77 and Patrick McCarthy with a 78, plus junior Chase Millar who shot an 80 completed the Stags' team scoring in Sunday's opening round in the Keystone State.
Play will wrap up on Monday in the 2024 Abarta Coca-Cola Collegiate Invitational hosted by Lafayette College.
