BERLIN, Md. – Colin Summers set the pace with an opening round 75 to lead Fairfield University Men's Golf to a tie for fifth place after day one of the Battle at Rum Pointe on Friday.
Patrick McCarthy added a 76 to share 14th in a field of 100 golfers.
With their fifth-place showing, the Stags are tied with Colgate and MAAC foe Siena at 309. Penn currently leads the field with a 299 in the opening round.
Joining Summers and McCarthy in Fairfield's scoring quartet were
Peter Crowe with a 78 and
Shane DeVincenzo carding an 80. Rounding out the Stags on the links today were
Chase Millar with an 82 and
Anthony Naples with an 85.
Ben Battye of La Salle tops the individual leaderboard with a 69 after holing five birdies on Friday.
The Stags return to the Rum Pointe Seaside Golf Links on Saturday to wrap up the Battle at Rum Pointe.
