Fairfield Falls To Brown In Friday Men's Tennis Action

Stags Will Retun To The Court Playing Three Matches Next Weekend In West Point, N.Y.

PROVIDENCE, R.I.-The Fairfield University men's tennis team took on its third consecutive Ivy League opponent on Friday afternoon in the Brown University Bears, and the hosts defeated the visiting Stags. 7-0, at the Pizzitola Sports Center.  Fairfield is now 0-4 in dual match action so far in the young 2024 campaign; while Brown moves to 3-4 with the victory.

The Stags opened the day with the number one doubles' pairing of Nick Condos and Thomas Smart leading Brown's top duo, 5-4, in a match that was not completed when the hosts took the doubles' point with wins at the number two and three flights.

Friday's singles' play was highlighted by graduate student Griffin Schlesinger splitting the first two set of his match at number six before falling 10-12 in the super tiebreaker, and sophomore Alex Aguiar forcing a second set tiebreaker in his match in the fourth flight.

Men's tennis will return to play in one week on Friday, February 9 when the Stags open a busy weekend of play in West Point, N.Y. at the U.S. Military Academy taking on host Army West Point plus Georgetown and wrapping with a contest the following day facing Binghamton University.
