MONTGOMERY, N.Y. - Fairfield University Men's Cross Country finished 8th out of 13 teams at the 2024 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Championship on Saturday morning. The race was held in Montgomery, N.Y. on the Twin Ponds on the Farm course. All five scoring Stags turned in a new personal-best 8K time.
Junior Ryan Lindley was the first Stag to cross the finish line at the MAAC Championship as he covered the 8K course in a time of 25:45.1.
Freshman Gabriel Montoya was the next Fairfield finisher nine spots behind Lindley in a time of 25:53.1
George Hohenleitner (26:06.2), Olli Muniz (26:13.2) and Bryce Robinson (26:38.4) rounded out the five Fairfield team point scorers, as they finished within nine places of each other.
Colin Shand, Chase Orciuch, Jack Putnam, Nevan Kelley and Charlie Tessier rounded out the Stags' squad at the 2024 MAAC Championship Meet.
In the team standings on Saturday, Iona won its 34th consecutive Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Men's Cross Country crown finishing with a perfect score of 15 points, as the Gaels took the top five places in the field of 175 finishers.
Iona's Lachlan Wellington won the men's race in a time of 23:57.4.
The Fairfield men's cross country team will return on Friday, November 15 at the NCAA Northeast Regional Championship in Hopkinton, N.H.
