POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y -- -Paced a strong third place finish by senior Ryan Lindley, the Fairfield University men's cross country team opened its 2025 season on Saturday morning with a fourth place team finish at the Marist Season Opener held at the Preserve at Vassar.
Lindley covered the 6K course on Saturday in a time of 19:38.8. Newcomer Harrison Caprara was the next Stag to cross the finish line on Saturday taking 12th place in a time of 19:49.9
Junior Chase Orciuch (19:56.5) and sophomore George Hohenleitner (20:02.4) also had top-20 finishes in Saturday's season opener for head coach Jake Jayworth's squad, and sophomore Bryce Robinson (20:07.6) rounded out the Fairfield scoring group.
Owen Fletcher (20:22.6), Kyle Haskell (20:44.6), Nevan Kelley (20:54.2), Gabriel Montoya (21:15.0), Jack Putnam (21:24.6), Charlie Tessier (21:26.4) and Colston Wisotzki (21:33.4) completed the Stags' finishers in Saturday's field of 49.
Host Marist took first place on Saturday followed by Iona, UAlbany, Fairfield and Siena.
Fairfield returns to competition in two weeks at the Manhattan College Invitational that will take place on the Twin Ponds on the Ponds course in Montgomery, New York which will also be the site of the MAAC Championship Meet on November 1.
