CONTOOCOOK, N.H. - The Fairfield University men's cross country team wrapped up its 2024 season on Friday at the NCAA Northeast Regional hosted by UMass Lowell at the Hopkinton State Fairgrounds in Contoocook, New Hampshire with a squad that featured six underclassmen, a group of three freshmen and three sophomores, out of its seven runners. The Stags finished 36th out of 38Â scoring teams and 39 total institutions at the event.
Freshman Gabriel Montoya was the first Fairfield runner to cross the finish line in the Granite State covering the difficult 10K course in a time of 33:00.24 which put him 170th in the 256-runner field.
Junior Ryan Lindley was the next Stag to break the tape in a time of 33:42.86, and sophomore Olli Muniz rounded out the top-three finishers for head coach Jake Jayworth's team with a time 34:20.93.
The final four Stags in Friday's regional finished bunched within 16 places of each other as crossing the line were freshmen Bryce Robinson (34:26.30) and Charlie Tessier (34:40.76) plus sophomores Chase Orciuch (34:52.84) and Colin Shand (34:59.08).
Harvard's Graham Blanks won Friday's men's race in a time of 29:34.56, and in the team competition, Syracuse took first place with a total of 75 points followed by Harvard in second. Those two teams will now move onto the 2024 NCAA Division I Men's Cross Country National Championship in Madison, Wisconsin.
