NEW BRITAIN, Conn. - Hannah Snayd placed second on Friday afternoon at the CCSU Mini Meet held a short jaunt up I-91 in New Britain's Stanley Quarter Park. Snayd covered the 3K course in a time of 9:45.27. Central Connecticut's Brooke Morabito won Friday's race in time of 9:25.06 which is a 3K course record.
As a team, the Stags finished in ninth place out of 11 teams finishing in front of MAAC rival Quinnipiac (11th place) and behind conference foes Merrimack (4th place) and Siena (8th place). Host CCSU took first place on Friday, as they Blue Devils finished the day with all five scores in the top 23 places.
Mia Strazzella had strong race on Friday finishing in fifteenth place with a time of 10:12.54.
Sophie Cheesman (10:45.16), Ada Gebauer (10:48.22) plus Devan Gambello (11:12.13) completed the Fairfield quintet of scores at the CCSU Mini Meet, and Molly Ryle (11:24.69) and Catherine Gobo (11:25.09) also competed for the Stags in Friday's varsity event.
Up next, The Fairfield women's cross country team will head to Montgomery, New York the familiar course at Twin Ponds on the Farm for the 2024 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Championship next Saturday, November 2. The 6K race is scheduled to begin at noon.
