CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - A trio of Fairfield University women's tennis players, Anna Neyestani, Victoria Mandma and Nicolette Loeffler, saw action on Thursday at the ITA New England Regional Championship being hosted by Harvard University in the tournament's singles qualifiers draw.

Fresh off her singles crown at last weekend's MAAC Masters Tournament, Neyestani opened action in Massachusetts with a three-set, 6-2, 4-6, 2-6 win over Buffalo's Maria Glowacka before fall in three tough sets to Victoria Zhao of Cornell, 2-6, 6-2, 2-6.

Mandma also picked up an opening round win sweeping Anagha Shankar of Quinnipiac, 6-3, 6-0, before bowing out against BU's Ellie Gyuro, 4-6, 6-1.

Loeffler fell to the draw's number 15 seed, Emma Sy of Army, 1-6, 2-6.

Action will continue in the tournament tomorrow with singles main draw action beginning with Fairfield's Sarah Liu scheduled to compete.

Liu and Maria Gell plus Loeffler and Maeve Cassidy will also play in the doubles bracket of this year's ITA New England Regional Championship.
