FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Fairfield University Women's Soccer senior defender
Caroline Kelly was named to the New England Women's Intercollegiate Soccer Association (NEWISA) Third Team, representing all the Division I colleges in New England. Kelly becomes the fourth Stag in the last four years to earn All-New England accolades.
"I'm eeally proud of Caroline's selection as one of the best defenders in New England," Head Coach
David Barrett said. "I think it reflects the work she has put in, and consistently high level performances throughout the course of last season."
Kelly started all 18 games she appeared in on the defense or in the midfield, helping the Stags to a double-digit win season and a spot in the MAAC Championship match.
With her anchoring the backline, the Stags surrendered just 8.7 shots per game with 3.4 of those attempts being on target.
For her success, she was named to the All-MAAC First Team for the second-straight season and became the second Stag in school history to be named to the Scholar All-American squad.
She has helped the Stags to 33 wins over the last three seasons while also clinching the 2022 MAAC Regular Season Championship.
