EDISON, N.J. – Fairfield University Women's Soccer sophomore
Maddy Theriault was named the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Offensive Player of the Week after scoring three goals and dishing out an assist in Fairfield's unbeaten week. The MAAC Preseason Player of the Year currently leads the conference with six goals and 14 total points.
"Maddy had one of her best all-around games on Saturday," Head Coach
David Barrett said. "We hope this is the start of some momentum as we dig into MAAC play."
Theriault had a hand in all three goals in Fairfield's 3-0 win in their MAAC opening game on Saturday. She highlighted her five-point outing with a pair of goals, the second time in her career she enjoyed a multi-goal match. She started the game by tallying an assist on a shot that was saved, leading to an
Elle Scott score. She would then net the next two Fairfield goals.
Theriault started her week by netting the go-ahead goal against Fairfield's crosstown rivals Sacred Heart in the eventual 3-3 draw against the Pioneers.
For the season, Theriault leads the MAAC and ranks 39th in the country with six goals while also placing 43rd in the nation with 14 total points.
She also becomes the third different Stag to earn conference weekly honors this season.
Theriault and the Stags will look to build on their conference success when they host Rider on Saturday night at Lessing Field at 7pm.
