BERLIN, Conn. – Anthony Naples shot a 137 (-5) to lead Fairfield University Men's Golf at the Ryan T. Lee Memorial Collegiate this weekend at Shuttle Meadow Country Club in Berlin.
Colin Summers also ranked among the top 10 with a 140 (-2) at the 36-hole event.
Naples, who shared third place with two other golfers, carded a 67 on Saturday and a 70 on Sunday to cap his weekend. He finished three strokes back of the individual medalist – Columbia's DJ Francey (-8).
Summers shared eighth place on the leaderboard, turning in a 69 and a 71.
Patrick McCarthy finished 32nd in the 90-man field, while
Shane DeVincenzo and
Peter Crowe – who was playing as an individual – tied for 53rd.
Chase Millar rounded out the six Stags on the course this weekend.
The team title went to LIU, which fired a -14 on Sunday to climb from third to first on the ledger. The Sharks were led by Lewis Wright's second-place 135 (-7), one shot back of Francey for the individual lead.
Fairfield placed sixth of 17 teams topping, competition including Army West Point, Villanova, Sacred Heart, Fordham and MAAC foe Manhattan.
The Stags return to action on Sept. 23-24 at The Course at Yale for the Macdonald Cup.
