Courtney Kitchen ’23 Returns to Fairfield Cross Country as Assistant Coach

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Head Coach Jake Jayworth has announced the hiring of Courtney Kitchen '23 as assistant coach of Fairfield University Men's and Women's Cross Country. Kitchen graduated this past May with a degree in Mathematics.

"Courtney has been a key member of our program for four years, as a competitor, a student, a leader and a role model," said Jayworth. "I'm excited for her to take on this new role as an assistant coach to continue helping us build the Fairfield Cross Country program."

As a student-athlete, Kitchen paced Fairfield in five of seven meets, including the 2022 MAAC Championship, to complete her standout career in the fall of 2022. She was the program's nominee for 2022-23 Fairfield University Women's Athlete of the Year as well as a MAAC All-Academic and CSC Academic All-District honoree.

Jayworth's second season leading Fairfield Cross Country begins on Saturday, Sept. 2 at the Marist Season Opener in Poughkeepsie, N.Y. The 2023 MAAC Championship is slated for Saturday, Oct. 28 at Twin Ponds on the Farm in Montgomery, N.Y.
