KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Fairfield University Women's Soccer team earned one of the United Soccer Coaches' College Team Academic Awards after maintaining a 3.63 team grade point average during the last academic season. A total of 23 student-athletes maintained a GPA of 3.50 or greater as the Stags led the MAAC with their cumulative GPA.
 
"Our players work really hard in the classroom," Head Coach David Barrett said. "They're really smart and capable and their performance in the classroom really reflects their capacity to be a really balanced student-athlete. They prioritize excellence not only on the field but also off the field."
 
The Stags ranked in the top-40 in the country and fourth in New England among Division I teams. In total, the Stags had 16 student-athletes placed on the MAAC All-Academic team last season by maintaining a GPA of 3.2 or greater with at least sophomore academic status.
 
The Stags had 23 total student-athletes maintain a GPA of 3.50 or greater during the last academic season with 16 players studying in the nationally-recognized Dolan School of Business. Two-year captain Reagan Klarmann leads the returning Stags with a 3.93 GPA as a Communications major. Sophomore goalkeeper Katie Wright has earned a 3.91 GPA during her first academic year as a biology major.
 
Fairfield, who was pre-ranked second in the MAAC Preseason Poll, extended their non-conference home unbeaten streak to 15-straight after a win over Binghamton and a draw against UMass Lowell during the season's opening week. The Stags will put that streak to the test when they welcome No. 23 Harvard to Lessing Field on Friday night at 6pm.
