Box Score

ORLANDO, Fla. – A pair of wins at the top of the singles' table highlighted the day for the Fairfield University men's tennis team in a 5-2 setback against Fairleigh Dickinson Wednesday afternoon.

"We battled hard today against the NEC favorite but couldn't quite pull it off with a couple of our starters out," said Head Coach Jeff Bricker. "I'm very happy with how the guys competed through. Jonathan and Tolunay played at a really high level and picked up nice wins in singles."

Jonathan Olive-Blanco captured a three set victory in topflight action, winning the opening frame in a tiebreak 7-6, and battling back in a 1-0 tiebreak that went 12-10 before he pulled out the win. At No. 2 singles Tolunay Sumer garnered a straight set victory by a final of 6-2, 6-4, to round out the strong points of the day against another tough northeast region opponent on their trip down south.

Fairfield men's tennis will wrap the week in Orlando on Thursday when they return to action at the USTA National Campus when they take on Marquette at 12:00 p.m.
