Box Score CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – One singles win and three wins on the doubles courts highlighted the opening round of the ITA Northeast Regional for Fairfield University Women's Tennis. Sarah Liu and the tandem of Lily Malinowski and Francesca Karman all still remain in the tournament, hosted by Harvard University.
 
Liu picked up Fairfield's lone singles win, defeating Stella Simeonova in straight sets – 6-2, 6-1 – to advance to the Round of 64. She will pick up on Saturday against Erin Ha of Yale in the Round of 64.
 
Ifigeneia Kafka, Katarina Plumtree and Lily Malinowski all also competed in singles but fell in their opening round matches.
 
Malinowski and Karman won a pair of doubles matches. The duo first took down Stella Simeonova and Isabella Barona of Le Moyne by an 8-3 score, then went on to topple Natalie Block and Angel You from the host Crimson, 8-5. They will resume doubles play in the Round of 16 on Sunday against the Quinnipiac duo of Dominique Yeo and Jenna Sloan.
 
Sarah Liu and Nicolette Loeffler earned a doubles win as well, coasting to an 8-0 triumph over Hiba El Khalifi and Vannelie Melendez from Providence. The pair were stopped in the Round of 32, however, as the Stags were edged by the Boston College tandem of Nada Dimovska and Tola Glowacka, 8-6.
