Stags Set for In-State Clash with Quinnipiac

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Fairfield University Women's Soccer team will put their 3-0 MAAC record on the line when they host in-state rival the Quinnipiac Bobcats on Lessing Field on Saturday afternoon with a 1pm kickoff. This matchup will feature the two lone remaining unbeaten teams in the conference with both squads entering with a 3-0 MAAC mark.

Fairfield won their third-straight MAAC match with a 2-1 road victory at Mount St. Mary's. Elle Scott and Caroline Kelly both touched net for the Stags with both scores coming within a five-minute span in the first half.

Scott started the scoring as she converted a rebounded shot from Hannah Vogt in the 10th minute for her fourth goal of the season. Three of her four goals this year have come within the first 16 minutes of the match. She has also now recorded 12 career goals and 30 points in her career.

Fairfield doubled their advantage as they scored on a corner kick for the second-straight game. Maddie Mills sent her service towards the middle of the net where Caroline Kelly was able to get her head on the ball and flick it past the goalkeeper for her first career score.

With her assist, Mills has now collected eight points in seven matches as a Stag. Her 1.14 points per game average ranks third in the MAAC.

The Stags will also put their unbeaten home streak on the line in the Saturday afternoon match with Fairfield holding a seven-match winning streak at home dating back to last season. The Stags are also unbeaten in 13 of their last 14 matches on Lessing Field.

Fairfield's eight wins in their first 10 matches is the most the Stags have had through the first 10 games of the season since 2001.

Quinnipiac also enters the match with a 3-0 conference mark and a 7-1-1 overall record. The Bobcats' offensive attack is highlighted by the MAAC's leading scorer in Rebecca Cooke, who has already scored 14 goals in nine matches.

The match will also be Fairfield's "Herd for a Cure" match with proceeds of the event going to The Cancer Couch Foundation to fund research for Metastatic Breast Cancer research.

The Stags will stay home for their next match on Wednesday night at 7pm against Manhattan.
