Dillon, Bornstein Highlight Iona Invitational for Men's Cross Country

BRONX, N.Y. – A pair of Stags finished amongst the top-35 Friday morning in the men's five-mile run at the John "Paddy" Doyle Meet of Champions, led by senior Robert Dillon who came across the line 29th out of 68 runners at the Iona Invitational, the second meet of the year for Fairfield University men's cross country.

The team picked up right where we left off last week and ran well as a pack," said Head Coach Jake Duckworth. "We have two weeks to get back to work before we head to Lehigh for Paul Short, which should give us a great indication of where we are at a month out from the MAAC Championship."

With a time of 27:05.8, Dillon led the Stags for the second weekend in a row, followed closely by teammate Jacob Bornstein who finished just after Dillon crossing the line in 27:22.8. As a team the Stags finished eight out of nine schools competing, as Alex Petersen and Ryan Lindley crossed the line in 48th and 61st respectively, followed by Thomas Vanderslice with a time of 29:52.1 to round out the top five for Fairfield.

Fairfield men's cross country is back in action in two weeks on Sept. 30 when the close the month of September at the Paul Short Run hosted by Lehigh University.
