Swimming & Diving Announces 2022-23 Schedule

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Conference rivalries and regional meets return to the 2022-23 Fairfield University swimming and diving schedule and Coach Jacy Dyer will embrace each date as preparation for the championship part of the schedule that starts in February with the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Championship in Buffalo, N.Y.

Right from the start, the Stags will compete against competition that should challenge the team beginning with the Fairfield University Invitational on October 2 and 3. The invitational will include the women's teams from Southern Connecticut, Manhattan, Wagner, Sacred Heart, and Central Connecticut along with Fairfield. On the men's side, Southern Connecticut, Manhattan, and Wagner will join the Stags for the two-day event.

"The Fairfield University Invitational gives us a championship vibe right from the start because there are multiple teams competing," Dyer said. "Bringing in different teams to start the season is a great way to get the excitement started for the rest of the season."

After the Invitational, four dual meets are on the docket beginning with a home date against Monmouth University on October 15. The Stags will leave the confines of the RecPlex Pool for their first road trip, making their way to Providence College for an October 28 meet. One day later, Fairfield returns to campus for a match up with the College of the Holy Cross on October 29 before ending the run against MAAC opponent Marist College on November 5.

"Dual meets help everyone begin to learn their races and begin to gain a feel for the competitive side of racing again," Dyer said. "And the experience and excitement they gain in these early season dual meets will carry over to championships at the end of the season."

The Stags will once again gain some experience in a championship setting when they make their annual trip to the Terrier Invitational hosted by Boston University from November 18-20. The event features many of the teams from around the region and presents some of the top regional swimmers.

Fairfield will travel to Greensboro, N.C. for the US Open, an event hosted by USA Swimming. The meet takes place at the Greensboro Aquatic Center from November 30 to December 3, a site which has presented the NCAA Championships in the past.

Following the semester break, the schedule brings La Salle University to the RecPlex Pool on January 14 for a dual meet. The La Salle date is the first of three dual meets on the slate with road dates including Manhattan on January 15 and Iona on January 21.

The Stags will pack their bags and head to upstate New York for the MAAC Championships on February 8-11 as they look to capture a conference championship. The MAAC will host the event at the Burt Flickinger Center on the campus of Erie Community College in Buffalo for the 12th consecutive year.

Fairfield divers will compete to earn a spot in the NCAA Zone A Diving Championships in Morgantown, W.V. on March 6-8. The College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) will host their National Invitational in Elkhart, Ind. from March 9-11, a meet in which the Stags have competed in previous seasons.

With a strong mix of invitationals and dual meets on the docket for 2022-23, the Fairfield University men's and women's swimming and diving teams seemed primed for another successful season.
