BOSTON, Mass. – The Fairfield University swimming and diving programs finished their final day at the Terrier Invitational this evening with the men taking third place and the women securing fifth in the three-day event.
Balazs Ament and
Natasha De Pree represented the team's top finishers on day three. Ament posted the best time in the 200 breaststroke by completing the distance in 1:59.27. De Pree garnered her third win of the meet by touch the wall first in the 1650 free with a time of 16:44.48.
Jochi Nolla was the top finisher in the 1650 free for the men, recording a time of 16:08.90. In the 200 backstroke, Aidan Schnapf was just off the winning time, taking second lace based on his showing of 1:47.48.
Chloe Wukitch also turned in a strong performance with a fourth-place swim in the same event, registering a time of 2:01.95.
The 100 free was the next event on the docket with the Stags gaining placement in the B and C finals. Cormack Rouse represented the men's team with a fourth-place swim in the B final and 14
th overall, clocking in at 45.63.
Allie Bashor won the C final by garnering a time of 52.60 which was 21
st overall.
Cailey Stockwell served as the team's top finisher in the 200 breaststroke, swimming the event in 2:20.18 which was fifth overall. The 200 butterfly was the final individual event of the meet with
Briana Racanello taking seventh (2:06.71) and James Robinson holding eighth place based on his time of 1:51.85.
The 400 free relay completed the third day as the men garnered a fourth-place finish by clocking in at 3:00.05. Mac McMillan, Rouse, Tim Regan, and Schnapf represented Fairfield in the race. De Pree,
Sofia Smerechniak, Holly Rahurahy, and
Allie Bashor comprised the women's 400 free relay foursome, taking 9
th with a time of 3:31.21.
The Fairfield University swimming and diving teams will take a break from competition until January 10 when the Stags travel to Colgate University for a tri-meet that also includes Boston University.
