MILFORD, Conn. – Patrick McCarthy maintained pace with the leader all the way through the two-day Sacred Heart Spring Invitational, finishing one under par and just one shot off the leader, nabbing a second-place finish to lead Fairfield University men's golf.
As a team, Fairfield finished fifth out of six schools, just two shots behind third-place Bryant, with a trio of Stags taking home top-15 finishes. Clarkie Carroll finished tied for ninth at six-over par a career-best finish for the Stags' freshman, followed closely by Zachary Maloy who finished tied for 12th in the 42-player field. Elsewhere for the Fairfield Five, Chase Millar finished tied for 34th, and James Tyer rounded out the team in 40th.
Fairfield men's golf is back in action Saturday in one final tune-up ahead of the MAAC Championships, making the short trip to New Haven to take part in the Yale Spring Invitational at The Course at Yale.
