GLEN COVE, N.Y. – Fairfield University Men's Golf posted the low score in Tuesday's final round at the Nassau Intercollegiate, surging to second place on the 12-team leaderboard. The Stags were led by
Rasmus Ditzinger's eighth-place performance after 54 holes at the Nassau Country Club.
The Stags' collective 288 was the best score on Tuesday as Fairfield moved from a tie for fourth place after Monday's 36 holes into second place at the close of the tournament. Fairfield finished two strokes ahead of third-place Army West Point and also bested a ledger that included MAAC rivals Iona and Sacred Heart in addition to regional foes Villanova, Delaware, Navy, and LIU.
Rhode Island won the Nassau Intercollegiate by six strokes, carding the tournament's best round of 283 in Round 1 and maintaining its lead throughout the remainder of the event.
Individually, the Stags were paced by Ditzinger's eighth-place score of 218. The MAAC Golfer of the Month for September, Ditzinger finished strong with a final round score of even-par 70 – highlighted by an eagle on the par-5 fourth hole. The sophomore was two strokes out of sixth place on the individual leaderboard and six shots shy of tournament medalist Jack Tarzy of Navy's 212.
Anthony Naples added a 13th-place finish for the Stags at 221, followed by twin 222s for
Peter Crowe and
Tadgh Burke in 17th.
Joey Vandergeest slotted in 33rd place with a 227 as all five of the Stags' scoring participants finished in the top half of the 66-golfer field.
Ty Ford played as an individual and finished his 54-hole week with a 236.
Fairfield Men's Golf concludes the fall portion of the 2025-26 schedule next week at the Wykagyl Collegiate hosted by Iona on Oct. 27-28 at Wykagyl Country Club in New Rochelle.
