Strong Efforts by Kitchen, Grosso Lead Women's Cross Country at MAAC Championships

LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. – Back by a pair of top 35 finishes from both Courtney Kitchen and Danielle Grosso Fairfield University women's cross country concluded the 2022 season this weekend as the squad placed 8th out of 11 schools at the MAAC Championships Saturday afternoon.

The first Stag to cross the line was Kitchen, pacing the team for the fourth time in the last five meets, as she crossed the line with a time of 22:47.8 and earn a 29th place finish out of 123 total runners. Finishing in second for Fairfield was Grosso by just a handful of seconds behind her teammate at 22:55.4 to place in 33rd. Junior Catherine Lanahan placed third as she finished in 24:00.2 in 48 places, a couple of spots ahead of Emily DallaRiva in 24:41.8 and Anna Weissenberg who rounded out the top five for Head Coach Jake Jayworth in his first MAAC Championships as coach of the Stags.

Quinnipiac would claim its second women's cross-country title as the team victors at this season, with Siena's Olivia Lomascolo winning with nearly a 10 second lead over the runner-up finisher, the Bobcats' Emily Young.

With the fall campaign now in the books, Fairfield women's cross-country heads into the offseason, but the action for the Stags is far from over in 2022-23.
