Bornstein Paces Men's Cross Country at 2022 MAAC Championships

LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. – Jacob Bornstein was the first Stag across the line in upstate New York Saturday afternoon pacing Fairfield University men's cross country at the 2022 MAAC Championships from The Crossings of Colonie.

Bornstein's time of 26:31.1 saw him place 70th in the field to lead a total of nine Stags at this year's championships, hosted by Siena, and was followed by freshman Alex Petersen in his first MAAC's crossing the line at 26:58.4. Finishing nearly right alongside one-another were senior Thomas Vanderslice and Pacifico Flores who finished with times of 27:35.7 and 27:36.4, respectively. Rounding out the top five for Fairfield was Ryan Lindley who was just a couple seconds behind those two, crossing the line in 27:44.3.

For the 32nd year in a row it would be the Iona Gaels who claim the team title in 2022, extending what is already an NCAA-record, capturing seven of the top eight finishes in the field, including Joshua DeSouza who claimed the individual crown.

With the fall campaign now in the books, Fairfield men's cross-country heads into the offseason, but the action for the Stags is far from over in 2022-23.
