BETHLEHEM, PA. – Fairfield University women's cross country saw its top finishers place within a second of each other, topping the Stags' efforts at the Paul Short Run Friday, hosted by Lehigh University.
First to cross the line once again for the squad was senior Courtney Kitchen who crossed the line 88th overall in the 383-runner field with a time of 22:39.1 on the 6k course on the Mountain Hawks' campus. For the third meet in a row, senior Danielle Grosso was the second Fairfield runner to cross the stripe, doing so with a time of 22:40.1 to pace the team's efforts, as overall the Stags came in 33rd out of the 44 schools competing on a full day of racing in Pennsylvania.
Third to finish for the Stags was junior Catherine Lanahan who finished with a time of 23:21.1, 178th in the field, followed by senior Anna Weissenberg in 23:47.2 and junior Emily DallaRiva who came across the line with a time of 23:49.3 to round out the front five for Fairfield. Freshmen Alexandra Messina with a time of 24:40.4 and Megan Furlong with a time of 25:12.9 completed the top-seven for the Stags.
Fairfield women's cross country is back in action in two weeks, Friday, Oct. 14 for the ECAC Meet at Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx, N.Y.
