FAIRFIELD, Conn. – After posting a pair of wins last week, the Fairfield University field hockey team saw two of its student-athletes earn weekly honors from the Northeast Conference (NEC). Freshman
Konni Hofmann garnered both the NEC co-offensive player of the week as well as the co-rookie of the week. Graduate student
Frances Mirabile collected the NEC defensive player of the week.
Hofmann helped Fairfield win a pair of games last week by scoring the game-winning goals in a decision over Saint Francis and Quinnipiac. She opened the week with two goals and an assist in Fairfield's 3-1 win over Saint Francis, scoring the first and the game-winning second goals. She also set up the team's last goal with her second assist of the year. She followed up with the game-winning goal in Fairfield's 5-2 win over Quinnipiac, posting the team's third goal off a penalty corner.
Mirabile scored a goal and added four assists in a pair of wins last week. Her goal tied the game against Quinnipiac while her first assist set up the third goal which proved to be the game-winner in the 5-2 win. She also registered two assists on the first two goals in a 3-1 win over Saint Francis.
Hofmann entered the week with one point for the season, picking up an assist on the game-winning goal from a 1-0 win over Holy Cross earlier in the season. Mirabile has added all of her scoring over the last five matches, garnering an assist against Sacred Heart before her goal and four assists last week.

Jackie Kane, plays a pair of NEC matches this weekend, hosting unbeaten Wagner College on Friday afternoon at 3 pm and traveling to LIU on Sunday afternoon at noon. The Stags currently own a 7-7 overall record and a 3-1 mark in the conference.
