Douglas' Runner Up Finish Leads Trio of Top-25's at SHU Fall Invite

MILFORD, Conn. - Senior Addy Douglas went toe-to-toe with a pair of opponents throughout round two of the Sacred Heart Invitational, and would finish just one shot off the lead at par for the round and two over for the tournament to lead Fairfield University women's golf to a third-place team finish at Great River Golf Course.

Douglas was tied with Sacred Heart's Chantal El Chaib and and Boston University's Alice Fan at two over coming into the final round, and the three would keep pace with one other to the very conclusion of Monday's action. El Chaib would gain a three-stroke advantage on the front nine, before Douglas rallied back in the latter half of the day besting the Pioneer golfer by three strokes, nearly drawing level on the penultimate hole.

A runner up finish for the Newport, R.I. native highlighted a group of four Stags amongst the top-25 and six within the top-30 of the 73-player field, including graduate Julia Towne who tallied her best career finish as a Stag, earning a share of sixth place in the field at five over par, following an opening round 73 on Sunday.

Sydney Nethercott finished third for the Fairfield quintet, improving by two strokes across the two-day invitational to card a four over, 76 in the finale to move into a share of 18th place, a round that also included a hole in one for the Stags' junior, followed by Lucy Fowler who led a trio of three individuals for the squad this week, placing in a tie for 23rd in the field.

Grace Kryscio and Annika Johnson rounded out the Fairfield five finished tied for 30th and 45th, respectively, with Juliette Prud'Homme finishing deadlocked for 30th as well, and Katelyn Waclawski in a tie for 55th completed the tournament for the Stags, who have one competition left on the docket before the winter break.

Fairfield women's golf will wrap the fall 2022 campaign with their lone venture away from the Nutmeg State for the semester, as they head to Bethlehem, Pa. for the Lehigh Invitational Oct. 24-25.
