LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. – Fairfield University Women's Golf sits in fourth place after the opening round of the 2021 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Championship at Disney's Magnolia Golf Course in Lake Buena Vista, Fla. Sydney Nethercott shot a 76 (+4) and Diana Velez added a 77 (+5) to pace the Stags on Friday.
 
Nethercott shared seventh place on the individual leaderboard with her 76, while Velez is tied in 12th place with Hartford's Lara Yeung. Rounding our Fairfield's scoring golfers today were Riley Sullivan with an 80 (+8) and Addy Douglas with an 81 (+9).
 
Fairfield's fourth-place position on the ledger has them just five strokes behind second-place Albany and a manageable 10 shots shy of first-place Quinnipiac with 36 holes left to play.
 
Second round action from Lake Buena Vista begins at 7:30 a.m. with the Stags hitting the course starting at 8:15 a.m.
