GALLOWAY, N.J. – For the second consecutive season, Fairfield University Women's Cross Country posted its best showing in recent MAAC Championship history. On Friday at Seaview Golf Club, the Stags boasted three runners in the top half of a talented field of 112 harriers to take seventh place in the 2020-21 edition of the conference meet.

After placing eighth in November of 2019, Fairfield's seventh-place performance today is their best since also finishing seventh in 2013. The Stags topped Manhattan, Canisius and Saint Peter's on the team leaderboard, and fell just 18 points shy of overtaking sixth-place Rider.

Individually,
Courtney Kitchen led the way for the Stags, finishing the 6K race in 24:11.45 for a 50th place finish. She was followed by
Jane Frawley in 51st place and
Anna Weissenberg slotted 53rd.
Catherine Lanahan – making her collegiate debut – and
Mia Melao rounded out the quintet that contributed to Fairfield's point total, with
Molly Silvestri just three seconds behind them.

Perennial power Iona won the 2020-21 MAAC Championship, led by individual winner Gemma Nuttall breaking the tape in 21:43.93. The Gaels had the top three finishers in the race, with all of their five scorers among the first 20.
