Dillon Places 22nd to Lead Stags at 2020-21 MAAC Championship

GALLOWAY, N.J. – A 22nd-place individual performance by Robert Dillon set the pace for Fairfield University Men's Cross Country at the 2020-21 MAAC Championship. As a team, the Stags placed ninth in their first meet in nearly 16 months.

Dillon completed the 8K course at Seaview Golf Club is 25:47.44, less than 15 second shy of earning All-MAAC status. Also Fairfield's top finisher at the 2019 MAAC Championship, his 22nd-place showing is the best for a Stag since Sam Daly '17 crossed the line in 10th place at the 2016 conference meet.

Also scoring for the Stags were brothers Pacifico Flores and Devin Flores, who finished back-to-back. Timothy Burschinger and James Vizzard rounded out the quintet -- all sophomores -- that put points on the board for the Stags.

On the team leaderboard, Fairfield defeated Saint Peter's and was clipped by eighth-place Quinnipiac by 29 points. Perennial national power Iona won the MAAC Championship for the 30th consecutive season. The Gaels boasted the top seven and eight of the first nine finishers, paced by individual MAAC Champion Jack O'Leary, who edged his teammates Jamie Dee and Ehab El-Sandali by less than one second.
