FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Fairfield University Men's and Women's Cross Country will be the first teams of Stags to compete for a MAAC Championship this fall when they hit the course at ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex on Saturday in Lake Buena Vista, Fla. The men will run an 8K at 9 a.m. followed by the women's 6K at approximately 9:45 a.m.
Â
Fairfield Men's Cross Country will look to improve on a ninth-place finish the spring 2021 MAAC Championship – the only meet of the truncated season. The Stags were led by
Robert Dillon in that race, placing 22nd overall in a field of 127 runners. Fairfield returns its top four finishers from that meet – Dillon,
Pacifico Flores,
Devin Flores and Timothy Burchsinger.
Â
Fairfield Women's Cross Country placed seventh at the spring edition of the Championship – its best finish since 2013. The Stags welcome back their top eight finishers and nine of 11 competitors in total from the spring, including individual pacesetter
Courtney Kitchen. Kitchen placed 50th of 112, followed less than four seconds later by
Jane Frawley in 51st and – fewer than three seconds after Frawley –
Anna Weissenberg in 53rd.
Â
As a part of Championship Weekend, it was announced on Thursday that 16 Stags were named to the MAAC All-Academic Team.
