Stags Golf Greats, Coach Len Roberto Tabbed for MAAC 40th Anniversary Team

EDISON, N.J. – The top performers of the past 40 years for Fairfield Men's and Women's Golf program have been named to the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) 40th Anniversary Team, as announced today by the conference office. In addition, former Head Coach Len Roberto was selected as one of three coaching representatives on the men's side.

Craig Anzlovar (1996-2000)
Craig Anzlovar won the 1997 McLeod Trophy as a freshman, carding a 147 (72-75) to lead Fairfield to the 1997 MAAC Championship by six strokes over Loyola. Anzlovar and the Stags also finished third at the conference tournament in the following spring.

Steve Burak (2012-15)
Steve Burak was the first Stag to ever compete at an NCAA Regional after winning the 2013 McLeod Trophy. His 208 (69-71-68) at the MAAC Championship remains the conference record for a 54-hole championship and was the first-ever score in MAAC Championship history with two rounds in the 60s. Burak also placed fourth overall at the 2015 MAAC Championship.

Ricky Dowling (2011-15)
Ricky Dowling was one of Fairfield's most consistent four-year performers at the MAAC Championships. Dowling finished fourth at the 2012 MAAC Championship with the second-best (best at the time) three-round score at the event in program history. He went on to place ninth in 2013, 21st in 2014 and 11th in 2015, helping guide the Stags to a trio of third-place team finishes as well as a tie for second place in 2014.

Dan Dumais (1980-82)
One of Fairfield's first top performers in the MAAC era, Dan Dumais won individual medalist honors at the inaugural MAAC Championship in 1982, recording a 153 (77-76) to beat the field by one stroke. Fairfield placed second at that tournament behind host Army.

Scott Rainaud (2009-13)
Scott Rainaud was the 2011 MAAC Rookie of the Year after placing 20th at the MAAC Championship. He was also a part of the Stags' back-to-back third-place finishes at the conference meet in 2012 and 2013.

Alex Taylor (2012-17)
In his first season of active competition with the Stags, Alex Taylor won the 2014 McLeod Trophy. He paced the Stag to a tie for second place on the team leaderboard, earning himself a berth in the Columbia (Mo.) Regional of the NCAA Tournament.

Olivia Brooks (2012-16)
Olivia Brooks finished sixth at the 2016 MAAC Championships to cap a standout career in which she finished with the best scoring average in recorded program history. She also won the individual 2014 ECAC Championship, leading the Stags to the first of back-to-back team crowns at the event. Brooks was selected by the MAAC as a candidate for the 2016 NCAA Woman of the Year Award.

Kristen MacDonald (2007-11)
MacDonald capped her career at the 2011 MAAC Championship, carding the lowest (now second-lowest) 54-hole score at the event in Fairfield history. Her score of 232 (76-79-77) as team captain propelled the Stags to a second-place team finish at the end. The effort capped a career run in which she placed seventh in 2008, fourth in 2009 and 11th in 2010.

Emma Ritzmann (2011-15)
Emma Ritzmann finished in the individual top-10 in three MAAC Championships, leading the Stags to a pair of third place team finishes in her career. In 2015, she capped her career finishing tied for fourth overall with a 231 (76-74-81) – a score that still stands as the best 54-hole score at the MAAC Championship in program history.

Sarah Scatamacchia (1998-2001)
Fairfield's first #1 golfer in the lineup, Sarah Scatamacchia won individual medalist honors at the first two MAAC Championships in 1998 and 2000 (no tournament held in 1999). The Stags went on to win the team MAAC crown in both of those campaigns.

Allie Schick (2001-05)
Allie Schick is the last Fairfield women's golfer to earn individual medalist honors at the MAAC Championship, carding a 159 (77-82) to beat the field as a sophomore in 2003.

Head Coach Len Roberto
Len Roberto was the head coach of Fairfield Men's Golf from 1998-2016. In those 18 seasons, Roberto was a three-time MAAC Coach of the Year (2004, 2008, 2013) and mentored back-to-back McLeod Trophy winners in 2013 and 2014. The Stags were just three strokes back in the race for the team title in both of those campaigns. Roberto also coached the Stags to the 2014 NEIGA Championship and their first-ever ECAC Championship in 2015. Roberto also took the reins of the women's program in 2005 as the Director of Men's and Women's Golf until his retirement from the position in the summer of 2016.
