BLOOMFIELD, Conn. – The trio of
Annika Johnson,
Taylor Rogers and
Madison Banas was all within two strokes of each other to lead Fairfield University Women's Golf at the Hartford Women's Invitational. The Stags finished ninth at the 36-hole event.
Johnson set the pace for Fairfield with a 161, including a team-best 79 in the opening round, to finish tied for 30th in a 68-golfer field. Rogers was right behind her with a 162 and Banas was just one shot behind with a 163. Closely following their teammates were
Alexa Brown and
Riley Sullivan to round out the scoring quintet for the weekend.
Fairfield's ninth place finish slotted them ahead of Merrimack and Holy Cross on the team leaderboard. Fairfield Dickinson ran away with the team title by 20 strokes over Bucknell, paced by individual medalist Caterina Tatti's 142 (-2).
The Stags continue their fall schedule in the Nutmeg State on Oct. 20-21 at the SHU Fall Class in Milford.
