MILFORD, Conn. – Alexa Brown shot an 86 (+14) to set the pace for Fairfield University Women's Golf on Sunday in the opening round of the SHU Spring Invite. Fairfield sits in third place at the midway point of the 36-hole event at Great River Golf Club in Milford.

Brown is currently tied for 12th place in the 42-golfer field. Â
Taylor Rogers and
Riley Sullivan are one stroke behind her with twin 87s on their first trip through Great River.
Madison Banas rounds out the quartet of scoring golfers for the Stags with an 88.

On the team leaderboard, Fairfield is third of seven teams with an aggregate score of 348.The Stags are one shot ahead of Hartford and also rate above Monmouth, Holy Cross and Saint Francis Brooklyn.

Siena holds a commanding lead after Round 1 with a 318. The Saint are 14 strokes in front of second-place Sacred Heart. Sara Riso leads the Siena effort, setting the individual pace with an opening-round 74.
