FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Amanda Nowak was named the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Women's Tennis Player of the Week for second straight time this week and the fourth time overall this season. Nowak went 4-0 this week at No. 1 Singles and No.1 Doubles against Quinnipiac and Siena.
Against Quinnipiac, Nowak and
Aina March took down Proyfon Lohaphaisan and Dominique Vasile at No. 1 Doubles (7-5). She then defeated Vasile at No. 1 Singles (7-6, 6-3). Against Siena, Nowak again teamed up with March to defeat Meagan Brown and Laura Becker (6-3) at No. 1 Doubles. At No. 1 Singles, Nowak took down Meagan Brown (6-3, 6-3) leading the Stags to a 5-2 win.
She led Fairfield to a 1-1 record this week as the Stags fell to Quinnipiac in a close match by a score of 3-4 and then defeated Siena 5-2 to close out their regular season schedule.
Fairfield will travel down to New Jersey this weekend as they compete in the 2019 MAAC Championship tournament which begins on Saturday, April 27. Nowak and the #2 ranked Stags will take on #3 ranked Marist at 10 am.
