FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Tyler Shibles was named the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Men's Tennis Player of the Week for the first time this season after going 2-0 at No. 1 Singles and tallying a win at No. 1 Doubles against Siena.
Shibles defeated Freddie Zaretsky of Quinnipiac (4-5, 1-0, 1-0) at No. 1 Singles. Against Siena, Shibles and
Lewis Edwards took down Tomas del Olmo and Guillermo Torres (6-2). Shibles then finished off Sagar Bains (6-1, 3-6, 6-4) at No. 1 Singles leading the Stags to a 6-1 win over the Saints.
Shibles led Fairfield to a 1-1 record this week falling to Quinnipaic 2-5 and taking down Siena 6-1.
Fairfield will travel down to New Jersey this weekend as they compete in the 2019 MAAC Championship tournament which begins on Saturday, April 27. Shibles and the #4 ranked Stags will take on #1 ranked Monmouth at 2 P.M. in the Semifinals.
