Box Score WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. – No matter what the scoreboard read the 2019 Fairfield University Women's Soccer season was an impressive success. Picked to finish seventh after a ninth place finish last season, the Stags advanced to the MAAC Championship Final, however that's where their season ended. The Stags fell to top-seeded Monmouth 6-0 on Hesse Field at the Great Lawn. The finals appearance was the 11th overall for the Stags and the first since 2014.

Monmouth's Lauren Karabin scored the first two goals for the Hawks, who won their fourth-straight MAAC Championship. The third goal was the real back breaker for the Stags as the Hawks scored with just 35 seconds left in the half to take a 3-0 lead.

Monmouth controlled possession for most of the game, out-shooting the Stags 19-4. Three of Fairfield's shots were on goal as attempts from
Melanie Hingher,
Julia McGuire, and
Stephanie Tsangaris required saves from Monmouth's Amanada Knaub.

On the other side of the field,
Aytana Muschajew made seven saves.

The 11 victories for the Stags was the most since that 2014 season where they last made the Championship Game. Despite not scoring tonight, the Stags netted 44 goals in 2019, their most in 14 years.

Gabby Diodati,
Josie Horosky, and Hingher were named to the All-Tournament Team, with Diodati highlighting the group after her semifinal game-winner.

The Stags will return eight All-MAAC selections from this season, their highest total since 2008. Among other accolades, Horosky was named the MAAC Co-Rookie of the Year and
David Barrett was voted the BSN MAAC Coach of the Year.
