Stags Host Marist on Wednesday at 4:30 PM

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Fairfield University Women's Soccer team will wrap up their longest homestand of the season as they host the Marist Red Foxes on Wednesday night at 4:30pm. The Stags, who earned a 2-0 victory over Manhattan over the weekend, currently sits third in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) with 12 points. The match was originally scheduled for 7pm but was moved up in the day due to the weather forecast.

Stephanie Tsangaris and Ally Filipkowski touched net in the 2-0 home win over the Jaspers, the team's fourth conference win of the season. It also marked the sixth game that the Stags have scored multiple goals this season, raising their season total to a conference best 27 goals through the first 13 matches of the season. The 27 scores also represents the 51st highest in the NCAA.

The Stags out-shot Manhattan 18-8, the fifth-straight game they have taken more shots than their opponents. Fairfield has allowed 10 or fewer shots in their last four contests with only Niagara (11) and Quinnipiac (10) reaching double digits in shot attempts in league games.

Tsangaris set the tempo against the Jaspers, opening the game with a goal just 37 seconds into the match. The tally was the fifth of the year for Tsangaris and her second game-winner, ranking in the top-five in the MAAC in both of those categories.

Filipkowski added an insurance goal in the second half against Manhattan, her first goal as a Stag. She became the tenth different Stag to touch net for the Stags this season, one of three teams in the MAAC with double digit goal scorers. Josie Horosky assisted on the second half goal as she picked up her first collegiate point.

Marist enters play with a 3-2-1 league mark with their only losses coming to MAAC unbeatens Rider and Monmouth. Kristen Prevosto and Victoria Colatosi pace the team with four goals apiece with the duo also combining for 21 points.

Natalie Kelchner, a Fairfield, Conn., product, owns a 3-3-1 record in net and has been the goalkeeper for the Red Foxes in MAAC play. She holds a 0.90 goals against average and a MAAC leading .875 save percentage.

The Stags are 12-7-6 all-time against the Red Foxes with a 5-4-3 mark at home. Marist is unbeaten in their last four meetings against the Stags, one match shy of tying their longest unbeaten streak in the series.

Fairfield will hit the road for three of their final four matches of the season, starting with current league unbeaten Rider for a Saturday afternoon match at 1pm.
