FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Fairfield swimming and diving split against Iona this afternoon as they celebrated their Senior Day at the RecPlex Pool. The women dominated the Gaels winning by a score of 208-72 while the men fought hard but were edged by a score of 123-157.
For the women,
Colleen Young had a fantastic day with three individual wins and two new program records. She broke the program record in the 100 Meter Breaststroke with her winning time of 1:12.85 and broke the record with a win in the 200 Meter Individual Medley clocking in at 2:25.59. Young also won the 200 Meter Breaststroke finishing at 2:37.78. She also joined
Kelly Cordes,
Morgan Hansen, and
Maria Nitti as they broke the program record with their win in the 200 Meter Medley Relay with a time of 1:59.93.
Sara Ostensen finished in first place in the 800 Meter Freestyle with a final time of 9:10.48 and finished in second in the 200 Meter Butterfly and the 100 Meter Butterfly.
Sarah Herbold had a great day with two first-place finishes in the 200 Meter Freestyle (2:07.99) and the 400 Meter Freestyle (4:29.88).
Morgan Hansen placed first in the 200 Meter Butterfly (2:21.94) and the 100 Meter Butterfly (1:04.40).
Maria Nitti won the 50 Meter Freestyle (26.91) and the 100 Meter Freestyle (59.58).
Shannon Feeley finished second in the 800 Meter Freestyle and the 400 Meter Freestyle while
Victoria Krivitsky finished in second in the 100 Meter Breaststroke and third in the 200 Meter Breaststroke.
Samantha D'Alessandro placed second in the 50 Meter Freestyle and the 100 Meter Freestyle.
Emily Vlass finished second in the 200 Meter Breaststroke and third in the 100 Meter Breaststroke.
D'Alessandro, Nitti, Ostensen, and Cordes also finished in first place in the 400 Meter Freestyle Relay while
Rachel Landry,
Kathleen Duong,
Donna Lam, and
Sarah Herbold placed second.
Emily Holman, Krivitsky, Herbold, and D'Alessandro also placed second in the 200 Meter Medley Relay.
On the men's side, six individual program records were broken, and one relay record was broken as well.
Patrick Boyle started the day with a record-breaking win in the 800 Meter Freestyle with a final time of 8:35.64. Evan Fair finished the day with a record win in the 200 Meter Freestyle clocking in at 1:55.81. He also broke the record in the 400 Meter Freestyle with a second-place time of 4:08.21.
Benjamin Kebbell placed first in the 100 Meter Backstroke with a program record time of 58.02 and he broke the record for the 200 Meter Backstroke with a second-place time of 2:09.53.
Peter Sloan broke the program record in the 200 Meter Breaststroke as well placing first with a time of 2:25.06. Sloan also finished second in the 100 Meter Breaststroke (1:06.32). Kebbell,

Brendan Finnegan, and Evan Fair also broke the record in the 400 Meter Freestyle Relay clocking in at 3:34.60 for a second-place finish.
Nick Adams placed second in the 50 Meter Freestyle with a time of 24.45.
Kebbell, Sloan,
Jordan Rahurahu, and
Nick Adams also finished in second-place in the 200 Meter Medley Relay with a final time of 1:47.89.
The Stags celebrated Senior Day as well acknowledging the six seniors

Fairfield will return to the pool as they take part in the Wesleyan Invitational on Friday, February 1 at 6:30 PM in Middletown, Connecticut.
