BLOOMFIELD, Conn. – Madison Banas finished tied for eighth on the individual leaderboard to guide Fairfield University Women's Golf this weekend at the Hartford Hawks Invitational. Her 77 (+7) today at Wintonbury Hills Golf Course in Bloomfield was the best round by a Stag at the tournament.
Banas climbed two spots on the leaderboard to reach eighth place, improving upon Saturday's 79 (+9) to finish with a 156 (+16).
Alexa Brown added a 78 (+8) today to finish one stroke behind Banas with a 157 (+17).
Taylor Rogers also improved her score on her second trip through Wintonbury Hills, carding a 79 in today's final round.
Riley Sullivan added an 83 and
Caroline Fischbach turned in a 90 in her first weekend of competition with the Stags.
Heddia Djusberg also made her collegiate debut this weekend, shooting a 90 on Sunday to conclude her 36 holes of action.
With their sixth place team finish, the Stags bested Northeast Conference squads LIU Brooklyn and St. Francis Brooklyn. Fairfield was three strokes shy of fifth place, held by fellow MAAC team Monmouth.
Host Hartford won the team title by 17 strokes. Siena's Sara Riso collected individual medalist laurels with a two-day 141 (+1).
Fairfield continues the fall portion of its 2018-19 schedule on Oct. 21-22 with 36 holes at Saucon Valley Country Club in Bethlehem, Pa. for the Lehigh Invitational.
