HAMPDEN, Mass. – James Tyer fired a 73 (+1) to sit one stroke off the pace after the opening round of the UConn Invitational at GreatHorse. The Stags are currently tied for ninth after the first of three rounds on tap for the tournament.
Tyer is one of five golfers to card a 73 on Sunday to finish the round of shot back of the first-place foursome knotted at even par: Drake Hull and Jimmy Hervol of UConn, Saptak Talwar of Sacred Heart and Tianyi Cen of Cornell.
Â
Also fueling the Stags' effort were
Patrick Ryan and Finn McGinnie, who each turned in a round of 77 (+5).
Thomas Urciuoli added a 78 (+6) and
Jason Salameno shot an 81 (+9). Not factoring into the team scoring was
Jacob Zaranek, who posted an 82 (+10) playing as an individual.
