PRINCETON, N.J. – Fairfield women's tennis had a successful weekend at the 2018 ITA Regional Championship tallying wins in both Singles and Doubles competition. The event was hosted by Princeton University at the Lenz Tennis Center in New Jersey.
Freshman
Amanda Nowak tallied two wins on the weekend as she defeated Maia Balce of Fordham by a score of (7-5, 6-2) in the qualifying round and then took down OJ Singh of the University of Pennsylvania (6-3, 6-4) in the second round. Nowak was then defeated in the main draw by Regina Pitts of Seton Hall (6-2, 6-0).
Aina March also took home a win in the qualifying round defeating Tatiana Grigoryan of Fordham by a score of (6-2, 6-3). March then fell in the second round to Oceane Garibal of St. John's (6-7, 6-1, 7-6).
Diana Prinos was also defeated by Natasha Gonzalez of Harvard (6-3, 6-3).
In Doubles competition,
Anna Komer and
Diana Prinos took down Anna Grigoryan and Ana Leonte of LIU Brooklyn by a score of (8-7). Komer and Prinos were then defeated by #1 seeds Guzal Yusupove and Gabriela Knutson of Syracuse (8-2).
The Stags have finished their fall slate with a 4-0 overall record and a 1-0 record in the MAAC. The finalized spring schedule will be released soon.
