HAMDEN, Conn. – Anthony Caputo and
Tyler Shibles reached the finals of the 'A' Doubles draw to highlight a strong weekend for Fairfield University Men's Tennis at the Quinnipiac Invitational. Singles action in Hamden included a trip to semifinals for
Jeffrey Rodgers in the 'A' draw.

Caputo and Shibles defeated the Wesleyan duo of Joachim Samson and Win Smith in the quarterfinals and Fordham's pairing of Jeremy Chung and Finn Kemper in the semifinals. The All-MAAC final of the draw saw Caputo and Shibles pitted against Quinnipiac's Freddie Zaretsky and Julian Rozenstein. The Bobcats' duo won the match by a count of 6-4.

Ethan Ammon and
Dylan Appel earned MAAC victory in the 'B' draw, downing Lars Schouten and Timo Tanzer of Marist, 6-3, before falling in the semifinals to Wesleyan's Marcus Sweeney and Jonathan Holtzmann – the eventual winners of the draw.

Rodgers' singles run featured a win of Allen Thornes of Fordham (6-2, 6-0) prior to a closely-contested semifinal loss to Steven Chen (2-6, 6-3, 10-7). Appel and
William Townsend Font each took a singles win in the 'B' draw to round out Fairfield's wins at the tournament.

The weekend also saw
Brad Orban and
Lewis Edwards in action at Yale for the Ivy Plus (
full recap). Orban reached the final of the singles draw to highlight the Stags' performances at Cullman-Heyman Tennis Center.

"This was another very good weekend for us both at Quinnipiac and at Yale," said Head Coach
Jeff Bricker. "We had a few injuries pop up, but overall I'm very excited with the progress we've made already. We are looking forward to our first dual match against Rider."

The Oct. 4 match against Rider is the Stags' lone MAAC outing of the fall. Action on-campus at the Walsh Athletic Center Tennis Courts is slated for a 2 p.m. opening serve.
