FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Fairfield University women's soccer Head Coach
Jim O'Brien announced that senior midfielder
Kelsey Burke has been added as a co-captain for the 2017 squad. Burke will join her fellow classmate
Faith Daley as the two captains for the team who are in the midst of their Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) schedule.
"Being added as a co-captain feels incredible," Burke said. "Faith has done a fantastic job and I'm honored to be given the opportunity to help lead. I spent this summer preparing for my final season and am ecstatic to experience it unfold. I hold high expectations for this year's team."
During her senior season, Burke has appeared in six of the team's seven games and has been an important position in the holding midfield. Burke has also logged versatile minutes for the Stags, helping the midfield as Daley nursed an injury early on in the non-conference campaign.
In her career, Burke has appeared in 40 matches for the Stags and has led by her example off the pitch by being named to two MAAC All-Academic teams as a Business major.
The Stags are coming off a 2-1 victory in their conference opener against Siena, putting their overall record at 3-4. Burke and the Stags are back on the Lessing Field pitch when they host Iona on Wednesday night at 7pm.
