FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Veteran coach
David Scrivines has been selected to lead Fairfield University Men's and Women's Cross Country into the 2017 season, as announced by Director of Athletics Gene Doris. Scrivines brings over 20 years of coaching experience to the Stags.

"David has a proven record of helping student-athletes achieve their goals both athletically and academically," said Doris. "We are happy to welcome him to the Fairfield Stags family."

The head cross country coach of St. Joseph High School in Trumbull since 2000, Scrivines is also an assistant basketball coach for the Cadets. He previously coached cross country, track and field, and basketball in Connecticut dating back to 1996, including tenures at Quinnipiac University and the University of Bridgeport.

"I am honored and excited for the opportunity to lead Fairfield Cross Country," said Scrivines. "I would like to thank Gene Doris and the Fairfield University community for selecting me to guide this program into 2017 and beyond."

Scrivines also worked as a scout for the Colorado Rockies and Major League Baseball Scouting Bureau and is currently a pro scout for the Boston Red Sox.

Scrivines graduated from Springfield College in 1998 with a degree in sports management and a minor in business administration. He holds a master's degree in school health education as well as multiple teaching certificates from Southern Connecticut State University.
Scrivines spent the past 11 years as a physical education, health and psychology teacher at St. Joseph High School. He is currently an adjunct professor in Post University's Sports Management program.
