Stags Place Second at Inaugural NEIGA Women's Championship

BREWSTER, Mass. – Taylor Rogers and Arianna Palmeri each carded an 87 to lead the Fairfield University women's golf team to a second place showing at the inaugural New England Intercollegiate Golf Association (NEIGA) Women's Championship. Rogers and Palmeri shared sixth place with their team-leading rounds. Due to Saturday's weather and course conditions, the tournament was a single-round event held today.

Madison Banas and Danielle Dalessandro both shot an 88 today and Jackie Schofield rounded out the Stags' field with a 101. Fairfield's aggregate score of 350 slotted them behind tournament champion Hartford (335) and ahead of Holy Cross (363). In addition to second place among Division I teams, the Stags also recorded the second-best score among all divisions.

Hartford's Cora Bernier led the Division I field with a 79 (+7), and Catherine French of Division II winner Assumption was the overall medalist with a 78 (+6).

The Stags are back in action next weekend for two days at the Hartford Women's Invitational on April 8-9 at Tumble Brook Country Club in Bloomfield.
