BOSTON – Fairfield University Men's Cross country began its championship season today at the New England Intercollegiate Amateur Athletic Association (NEICAAA) Championship. Led by
Scott Daly, the Stags placed 26th on the 8K course at Franklin Park in Boston.
Daly placed 103rd out of 180 runners to set the pace for the Stags with a time of 27:12.0. He was followed by teammates
Ryan Brennan,
Connor Secora,
Mike Dziuba and
Mike Bodie as Fairfield's five scoring harriers.
With their 26th place finish, the Stags topped in-state opponent Southern Connecticut State on the team leaderboard. Stonehill won the New England crown, followed by MIT and third-place UMass as the top Division I team. Leakey Kipkosgei of American International claimed the individual championship with a winning time of 24:51.3.
Fairfield is back in action for the CCSU Mini-Meet on Friday, Oct. 20 before resuming its championship season on Saturday, Oct. 28 at the 2017 MAAC Championship in Holmdel, N.J.
