NEW BRITAIN, Conn. – Led by
Sami Carey's time of 11:16.4, Fairfield University Women's Cross Country was back in action on Friday afternoon at the CCSU Mini-Meet. The 3K run at Stanley Quarter Park in New Britain was the Stags' final competition before next weekend's Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Championship.
Kelsi Farren was shortly behind Carey with a finishing time of 11:25.8.
Katie Kern added a mark of 11:45.0. Also scoring for the Stags were
Anna Valentine (11:52.1) and
Shannon Lavin (11:58.1).
The Stags turned in a 17th-place finish in the 20-team field. Fairfield topped Rhode Island, Hartford and St. Francis Brooklyn on the team leaderboard. New Hampshire won the meet, led by individual champion Shannon Murdock's time of 10:08.6. The Wildcats boasted four of the race's top 10 finishers.
The 2017 MAAC Championship will be held on Saturday, Oct. 28 at 11 a.m. at Holmdel Park in Holmdel, N.J.
